January 1988: I was born, that was a good start.
April 2004: After a trip to Paris with my French class in high school, I decided I wanted to see the rest of the world.
June 2005: So when I graduated high school I decided to take a gap year (a year off in between high school and college) .
September 2005 – March 2006 : During my gap year, I taught English in Thailand for three months, interned at a weekly community newspaper in New Zealand for another three months, and went skydiving in Australia just for fun.
September 2006: Then I went to the University of Massachusetts Amherst and studied journalism. I also kept traveling as much as I could.
May 2009: I had a full time internship the summer before my senior year where I realized I did not want to have a 9-5 office job right out of college.
August 2009: I remembered how much I loved volunteering in Thailand and started researching the idea of volunteering abroad again. I had always thought the Peace Corps was something I would like to do, and in recent years knew people that had done it and loved it. So I decided to apply!
November 2009: I had my interview and was nominated to teach English in Asia.
December 2009 – May 2010: Lots and lots of paperwork, appointments, and PATIENCE
June 2010: Received and accepted my invitation to become a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines!!
